Katherine Fernandez Rundle was born in 1950 in Washington, D.C. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Miami and both her Master’s degree in Criminology and law degree from the University of Cambridge Law School in England.

She is Miami-Dade County’s and Florida’s first Cuban-American State Attorney. She has dedicated 15 years as an Assistant State Attorney. She also served as Chief Assistant, acted legal counsel to the Dade County Grand Jury and as the first female president of the Cuban-American Bar Association.

In addition, she has presented hundreds of murder and capital cases and oversaw the revision of the building code following Hurricane Andrew.
